p = Purl
k = Knit
( )* = repeat what is within parentheses one time
C#F = Cable Front -
Thumb cast on method = long tail cast on method. The best way to learn this method is to see it done!
Inc = increase (adding a stitch either to the left or the right of the working stitch) There are multiple methods of doing this. See themhere!
k2tog = knit two stitches together (method of decreasing)
p2tog = purl two stitches together (method of decreasing)
cast off = bind off, finish the work and removing it from the needles. There are multiple ways of doing this. See them here!
sl1 knitwise = slip one stitch knitwise
m1k = make one, an increase. lift the loop between two knitted stitches onto the left needle and knit into it. This kind of increase will leave a small hole!
ssk = slip, slip, knit. Slip to stitches knitwise, place them back onto the left needle and knit them together. (method od decreasing)
Using double pointed needles: watch a(nother) helpful video here. (Scroll to "Small Diameter Circular Knitting, Double Pointed Needles)
C#B = Cable Back
k = Knit
( )* = repeat what is within parentheses one time
C#F = Cable Front -
- Slip half of the number of stitches to be cabled on to the cable needle.
- Hold cable needle in front of the work and knit remaining stitches off of left hand needle, then knit off of the cable needle.

sl1 knitwise = slip one stitch knitwise
- Insert the right needle into the stitch as if to knit, but slip the stitch onto the right needle without wrapping the yarn and pulling through.

- Slip half of the number of stitches to be cabled on to the cable needle.
- Hold cable needle in back of the work and knit remaining stitches off of left hand needle, then knit off of the cable needle.
- This will make the cable cross right. Sometimes referred to as a Right Cross Cable instead of Cable Back.
